I would like to share this great article on Babiekins Magazine about Amanda Elkins, our wonderful photographer who got her start shooting for No Slippy Hair Clippy. In the article, Amanda talks about how taking photos of her young children stoked her passion for photography and blossomed into a career:

“My friends would see the images and ask me to take a few shots of their kids, and soon, my friends’ friends were asking me to do the same for them. When my baby girl was about nine months old, I started shooting images of her for No Slippy Hair Clippy (a great hair accessories company for little girls). That led to working with child actress Ryan Newman for a No Slippy Hair Clippy catalog.”

Amanda has a keen eye for photographing children, capturing not just their innocence but also their character and individuality. We are proud to have her stellar photos grace our website and consider her a valuable, influential force on the Hair Clippy brand.

Since her early days with us at Hair Clippy, Amanda has gone on to do fashion shoots with TV and movie stars and other celebrities. Tips on massaging your baby:

The best time to massage your baby is after a good warm bath.
Make sure that the room is warm and that the two of you are in a comfortable position. Lay your baby on her changing table, on the bed, or on your lap.

Maintain eye contact with your baby and be gentle!

Crawling is your little one’s natural attempt at increased mobility. But getting there is more complicated than simply putting one hand in front of the other.

Your daughter is off to summer camp, but is her hair ready for a month in the wilderness? The elements can weigh down her locks, so pack these hair boosters to keep them looking lovely and tangle-free.

Heat-Free Hair Can Be Fabulous

Moms, put away the curlers and flat irons.

Your daughters might damage their hair when they keep using these hot styling tools in summer. The hot sun already dries out her hair, and applied heat will only make it more dull and brittle.

Instead, let her switch to heat-free hairstyles like buns and braids. These two are very popular right now as summer hair, and I know they’ll look great on your girl as well.

Ballerina Band

Ballerina buns have always been a pretty and practical choice for summer since they keep the neck and face cool all day long. But when you add a headband to the plain bun, it becomes super chic.

Hairdo How-to:

Wash and towel-dry hair. Brush through to remove the tangles.
Using a brush, gather the hair and tie into a ponytail.
Gather the ponytail end and twist until it becomes firm, but not too tight.
Wrap the hair around the ponytail base. Use hair pins to steady the bun shape.

You might think a trusty old fan will do the trick, but your daughter needs a lot more to keep the prickly heat away. Here are a few suggestions on how to keep your little one cool and comfortable this summer season.

Tip 1: Keep her out of direct sunlight

Because she’s still so young, your baby hasn’t quite developed adequate natural protection from the sun. Always remember that direct exposure can quite quickly and easily lead to sunburn, and she’ll be feeling the effects long before you do.

Selecting a Playtime Outfit
